Swim for Fitness, Therapy, or Fun!!!

The warm water and weightlessness of the dog, greatly decreases stress on the joints and allows the muscles of the dog to relax.            Types of Swim Sessions Offered

 Supervised U-Swim Session

The Supervised U-Swim Sessions are for animals that are swimming for fitness or fun. Also, animals that have reached their goals with Assisted Swim Therapy sessions may attend U-Swim sessions for maintenance.

During U-Swim sessions the animal's guardian works with and monitors their own animal. Love 4 Paws staff are available to answer any questions and provide guidance as required. We will help you during the first session to get acquainted with the pool, shower, and making sure your animal enters and exits the pool safely. If your animal cannot swim and requires lessons, an additional charge will be applied.

Assisted Swim Therapy

Assisted Swim Therapy is for animals that are swimming for therapeutic  purposes. The role of the Canine Swim Therapist is to provide an atmosphere of trust and safety, for both the animal and their guardian, to facilitate the healing process. We realize that not all dogs like water, so we work as slowly as we need to or as quickly as we can.

Each swim therapy session is tailored to the individual animal's abilities, needs and safety.

For all veterinary referrals, we are in the water working with your animal at all times and helping them enter and exit the pool safely. We encourage owners to bring a second set of clothing or bathing suit, so they can coach their animal from the pool-side or in later sessions take part in the pool.

What you need to do:

 What we need to do:

  1. Call us (506-977-0222) or email us to tell us about your dog and to set up a time for your appointment.

We will discuss with you what your dog's specific needs are and your goals for their swim sessions. We will schedule a time that is convenient for you, pending the return of the Vet Consent Form.

  1. Provide us with your vet's contact information.

We will prepare the Vet Consent form for you and fax it to your vet for signature.

Note: We require this form to be completed for your dog's safety and because it provides us with information that may be pertinent to the design of your dog's swim program.

  1. Complete any forms and send them to us or print them and bring them on your 1st appointment.

We will review your forms in advance of your appointment and be prepared for your arrival.

  1. Arrive with your dog…we supply lifejackets, towels,
    toys and treats.

We'll do the rest, but we encourage you to be in the pool room for support and encouragement.

      Your Animal's First Appointment

Before the first appointment, ensure your animal hasn't eaten for about four hours prior to the swim session - unless your animal has a medical condition where this is not possible.

Upon arrival at the pool, please leash your pet and ensure they have a chance to empty their bladder and bowel right before the swim appointment. This will help avoid the animal from relieving themselves in the pool or pool house!

We ask that you wait at least 7 days before swimming your animal if you have used flea products such as shampoos, powders, and Advantage.
